PAPYRUS LODGE No. 2562
Founded in 1895, Papyrus Lodge drew its original membership from within the paper trade. Consequently, the Lodge was called Papyrus a name derived from the plant originally used to make paper. The Gallery shows our first Worshipful Master and a founder W. Bro. Sir S. A. Hardiman who was Worshipful Master from 1895 to 1896. Since that first meeting on Monday 24th June 1895 our membership has evolved to become an eclectic mix of various occupations. Nevertheless, the Papyrus plant is still proudly displayed on our Crest. We meet four times a year at Mark Masons Hall, 86 St. James's Street, London SW1A 1PL. The first meeting is in November, the second in December, the third in February and the last in May all starting at 5 p.m. We strive to deliver interesting content to satisfy the needs of both new and existing members that ensures everyone receives worthwhile instruction. We always provide a warm welcome for Masonic visitors and encourage our members to visit other Lodges as a rewarding part of Freemasonry. Our Masonic meetings are followed by a meal traditionally called the Festive Board where our members and guests find convivial company and lively discussion. Papyrus Lodge is certainly a very happy and welcoming Lodge where everyone feels relaxed and at home. We would be delighted to welcome new members into our community and would be delighted to talk with you about Freemasonry and to answer any questions you may have.
